Galapagos Archipel
ITINERARY DAY BY DAY
8 days / 7 nights
Sunday to Sunday
Day 5
Punta Moreno / Elizabeth Bay (Isabela Island)

The Island Isabela is very big; its surface almost covers half of the land mass of the Galapagos archipelago. Found on this island is Punta Moreno, a young volcanic landscape with numerous fresh-water pools at which Flamingos, Bahama Ducks and other birds unite. About 40 kms of Punta Moreno you will find the mangrove area of Elizabeth Bay with little islands off-shore. Here you can see little dwarf penguins as well as schools of manta rays, turtles and other giants of the ocean such as whale-sharks and others.
Day 6
Urbina Bay (Isabela Island) / Punta Espinoza (Fernandina Island)
Urbina Bay went through a volcanic uplifting event back in 1954 leaving gaunt marine skeletons, which make the walk remarkably interesting, specially for understanding island colonization. This area is also home to large and very colorful Galapagos land iguanas, and the famous giant tortoises from the population of Alcedo Volcano. Swimming and snorkeling will depend on local sea conditions. Back on board for lunch. As you sail along the Bolivar Channel, astonishing views of the Galapagos ’ youngest volcanoes can be seen. The nutrient-rich waters of the west can also bring surprises like encountering sea birds feeding, dolphins, and possibly whales.
In the youngest island, Fernandina, a dinghy ride to observe Galapagos penguins, as well as flightless cormorants and then disembark (dry landing) for a one-mile walk. Punta Espinoza has an amazing combination of barrenness with lots of wildlife. Having no introduced mammals, Fernandina has a very unique environment with the highest density of marine iguanas, sharing their island habitat with sea lions, sally-light foot crabs, and hawks. Lava terrain calls for good walking shoes.
Day 7
Bartolome Island / North Seymour Island
Early, before breakfast, disembark at Bartolome Island (dry landing) for a hike to the summit. Great way to start the day. This is a steep climb aided by a wooden staircase; the view from the top is worth the effort. Return to the boat for breakfast followed by a panga ride around colossal Pinnacle Rock, time to enjoy the beach (wet landing) and snorkelling. Chance to snorkel next to Galapagos Penguins.
North Seymour is an uplifted island. In previous times, this was the ocean's bed. Afternoon outing at North Seymour (dry landing) for a walk along the coast and the interior of the island observing bird colonies of blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, swallow tailed gulls as well as sea lions and marine iguanas. A shorter walk is also available.
Day 8
Interpretation Center / San Cristobal Island departure
Arrival to San Cristobal Island. Here is the Interpretation Center newly opened by the Galapagos National Park in 1998, which is truly an extraordinary contribution to the information and education of Galapagos communities and the travelers, the 80% is focus in the anthropology of the Galapagos, the 20% is scientific.
Transfer to the airport to take the return flight to the Ecuador mainland.
