Hi all

My boyfriend and I are returning to Baltra from an 8-day cruise on a Sunday to catch a flight to Isabela. As there are no flights on Sundays we have to spend a night at a hotel before taking off.

The problem I am facing is that searching the net, most hotels seems to be situated in Porto Ayora - bus and ferry rides from Baltra.

Does anyone know if there are any hotels closer to the Baltra airport or if there is a smarter way to arrange our transport to Isabela? (I have read that there might be boats from Porto Ayora to Isabela but these don't seem too relyable in terms of time tables..?)

Many thanks!

Hi - no hotels on Baltra (it's a small island next to Santa Cruz)...

IF you're off the cruise in the morning (which is likely the case) you could take the ferry/bus ride combo from Baltra into Puerto Ayora (fastest we ever did that was 60 minutes - we usually took a cab instead of the bus - it was a little faster and more comfortable - $15 flat rate) and take the fast boat from the Puerto Ayora harbour IF it runs on Sunday.......

The best thing might be to contact a local travel agent in Puerto Ayora who was a terrific help to us while we were there - her name is Jenny Montenegro at Moonrise Travel and she should be able to tell you if the boat runs on Sunday and if it's reliable - and she can probably also arrange for the tickets.

If there's no boat that day you could spend Sunday night in Puerto Ayora (although PA does shut down on Sunday!) and then take the fast boat on Monday - the reason I suggest that is you have to leave PA for Baltra at 9:30am for the 12:30 flight! So you may as well take the fast boat from PA (if you don't mind a bit of chop - we flew because my husband's back can't take chop)......hope this helps
