Casa del Lago Lodging House
Casa del Lago is a small lodging house and restaurant, with ivy climbing up its white walls and leafy bushes spilling from its balconies. Set in tranquil surroundings near the Ninfas lake, it`s earthy environment seems to welcome you in for a comfortable stay.
Far from being cluttered, these rooms seem to have something arty in every direction and attention to detail seems to have been paid to every detail. Each room has an unusual array of ornaments, rugs, wall hangings and other special features, giving this place a really original feel. The artistic owner has taken time to create a bohemian style home in which guests can truly relax. Over the bridge is the first suite with dark wooden windows and stained glass. Inside there`s a very well equipped kitchen with a cooker, mini-oven, an old style kettle and a large fridge and freezer. All utensils and washing up items are provided and there`s a shelf full of condiments for cooking. There`s a small table to sit at and a large tub of drinking water is provided.
In the bedroom is a double bed with fresh sheets, covered with a mosquito net. There`s a storage place for clothes and cable T.V. Outside is a nice veranda with chairs and pot plants on which you can relax, although this looks out on to the road. There`s a cute tiled bathroom with a mint green suite and a cute shell covered mirror. The shower has hot running water.
The larger suite, painted in beige and yellows with pine furniture, is a lot brighter and seems a bit more modern. Again, this has drinking water, hot showers, cable T.V. and a well stocked kitchen, plus a coffee maker and a blender. On the first level is a comfortable looking sofa bed that can sleep two when opened out. It seemed strange to me that the bathroom had no door though, rather the wall just curved around creating a certain amount of privacy.
A wide lime green staircase leads you up to an air-conditioned room with a double bed and a mattress that sits on the floor covered in cushions. This can be used as a comfortable seat where you can sit and watch cable T.V. or can be transformed into yet another bed. There are three windows letting in lots of light and colourful glass bottles are cleverly built into the white walls, absorbing the sun rays and casting reds, blues and oranges into the room.
Outside the lodging house is a semi-private area with a large hammock where you can relax amongst the flowers. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and have a big black cat that roams about wearing a red bow tie. Be sure to give him a stroke if you see him! Being set back from the hustle and bustle of the main centre, it`s worth paying that little bit extra to enjoy a unique experience and that`s definitely what you will get if you stay here.
