Hotel Salinas

Galapagos, hotel Salinas

Hotel Salinas can be found on Bolivar Naveda and Charles Binford, not ten minutes walk from the harbour. Conveniently located on a street with internet, shops and restaurants, it’s a white building with blue lettering boasting big hibiscus bushes that protrude from the gate like arches of the from wall. Enter on the left past a pretty courtyard that’s filled with a jungle of plants and flowers, where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun.

It has big bathrooms, a fan and large space to hag clothes. Towels and soap are provided, as in all of the rooms. Showers are cold. These rooms cost $12 per person, per night.

The second floor rooms range in price from $16.80 - $25 per person, depending on the amount of people sharing and whether or not you have air-conditioning or fan. The showers are hot and T.V.S is provided, although all shows are in Spanish. These rooms vary greatly in style and decor but are mainly big and reasonably clean. Bathrooms seem a bit drab and old. Some bedding is tasteful, some is tacky, but more importantly it seems clean and fresh.

On the top level are some brand new rooms with sparkling bathrooms, large comfortable “camas” with fresh modern bedding, and white and grey tiled floors. These are also much more airy and bright. Outside is a semi-private balcony with seats. These are $50 a night for a double.

A small restaurant downstairs provides “groups only” with a basic breakfast for $2.50, but is open all day to purchase soft drinks and beers.
