Day 1

Hike in San Cristobal Island

This morning you'll catch an early flight to San Cristobal Island. Once you arrive, you hike to nearby Frigate Hill for splendid views of the coastline and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. And youll also enjoy the first encounters with local wildlife, since the hill is often visited by such Galapagos stars as the magnificent and great frigate birds, with cameos from blue footed boobies, swallowed tailed-gulls, and Darwin finches. On you way back you can swim from the white sand of Mann Beach. (B, L)

Day 2

Playa Ochoa (Sea Kayaking) / Kicker Rock (Snorkeling)

Sea lions, boobies, frigate birds and sea turtles make for excellent company as you sea kayak to Playa Ochoa. Here, you'll relax along the shoreline or swim in the wildlife-rich waters.

Reenergized from lunch, you’ll continue your paddling to Leon Dormido (Kicker Rock). This enormous rock resembles a sleeping lion and towers over the region, rising 500 feet straight up from the ocean. You’ll spend the remaining afternoon snorkeling Leon Dormido. Share the waters with hammerhead and white-tipped sharks, eagle and golden rays, not to mention the dozens of tropical fish. (B, L)

Day 3

Santa Fe (Snorkeling) / Santa Cruz (Sea Kayaking)

Today is filled with more water adventures off of the Santa Fe and Santa Cruz Islands. A boat ride takes you first to Santa Fe where you’ll snorkel the island’s surrounding crystal waters rich with sea lions, fish, rays and turtles.

Santa Fe has one of the most beautiful coves in the region - a turquoise lagoon protected by a peninsula of rocks and small islands that extends from the shore. If you’re lucky, you may spot a Santa Fe Iguana lounging onshore. Your boat ride continues onto Santa Cruz, where you'll pick up your kayaks for paddling around Divine Bay and Punta Estrada. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife perched on the jagged cliffs above. (B, L)

Day 4

Santa Cruz Highlands (Hiking / Mountainbiking)

Transfer to El Chato reserve in the upper realm of Santa Cruz Island, natural habitat of the Galapagos tortoise. As you seek these lumbering giants, we'll also come across pintail ducks, egrets, flycatchers, finches and frigate birds bathing in fresh water lakes. You explore lava caves, incredible volcanic tunnel formations, and Media Luna, an old collapsed crater on top of Santa Cruz Island.

Following a trail through Miconia forest, you'll reach a point with great views down to the coastline. Following you prepare the mountain bikes to ride mostly downhill through highland farmlands and small villages to El Garrapatero beach.

El Garrapatero is an expansive beach area, including a fresh water lake where you can come across pink flamingos, herons, grebes, stilts and other shore birds. Relax on this perfect, white beach after a full day of hiking and biking. On the way back to the hotel and visit the Charles Darwin Station to learn about conservation and management efforts in the archipelago. (B, L)
